1. Background and Rationale
School education in Uttarakhand is moving through a transformative phase shaped by innovation, digital creativity, inclusive participation, technology-enabled learning, and a stronger connection between local identity and global aspirations. SCERT Uttarakhand proposes a State Online Innovative Logo Design Competition to develop a distinctive visual identity for “School Education Uttarakhand.” The initiative will invite learners and educators to express, through design, the values, culture, educational aspirations, and future-readiness of the state's school education system.
The competition will be implemented in joint collaboration with Canva Education as the design-platform partner. The partnership framework envisages a safe, education-focused design environment, capacity building, logo-design training, digital collaboration, support for jury review, recognition of selected entries, and wider visibility for the initiative.
2. Vision
To create a memorable, modern, and meaningful visual identity for School Education Uttarakhand that represents the Himalayas and Uttarakhand’s cultural roots while communicating innovation, inclusion, learning, sustainability, creativity, technology, and a future-ready education system.
3. Competition Theme
“Innovative, Inclusive, Digital, and Future-Ready School Education for Uttarakhand and India.”
The logo may communicate one or more of the following dimensions:
- Innovation and transformation in education
- Digital learning and technology-enabled classrooms
- Himalayan identity, Uttarakhand culture, and local heritage
- Inclusivity, equity, and gender participation
- Sustainability and environmental consciousness
- Indian Knowledge Systems and Values
- Creativity, experiential learning, science, and innovation
- A global outlook with strong local roots
4. Objectives
- Develop an innovative visual identity that may be considered for official use by School Education Uttarakhand.
- Promote creativity, innovation, visual communication, and digital design skills among students and teachers.
- Provide an authentic platform for young creators and educators to convert educational ideas into visual symbols.
- Encourage accessible and responsible use of digital design tools, including Canva Education and other legally used design tools.
- Identify and recognize emerging talent in logo design, illustration, digital art, and educational communication.
- Encourage participation from government-school students and teachers, including girls and women creators.
- Create opportunities for mentoring, design training, peer learning, and exposure to professional design principles.
- Build a reusable creative ecosystem for future educational communication, campaigns, and innovation challenges.
5. Eligibility and Participation Categories
The principal participation base will be students and teachers of Uttarakhand. The competition may also accept a limited number of invited/eligible entries from outside Uttarakhand to enrich national and international exposure, particularly from recognized National Awardees, International Awardees and other distinguished education/creative contributors, subject to scrutiny and approval by the organisers.

8. Capacity Building and Training
To ensure that prior design experience does not become a barrier, a structured online orientation/training series may be conducted before or during the competition. Proposed modules include:
Module 1 – Introduction to Canva Education: Platform navigation, templates/assets, safe education use, basic composition, typography and colour.
Module 2 – Logo Design Masterclass: Simplicity, memorability, symbolism, scalability, colour/monochrome performance and visual identity.
Module 3 – Uttarakhand Identity & Educational Symbolism: Responsible use of Himalayan, cultural, educational, sustainability and technology motifs.
Module 4 – Ethical AI-Assisted Design: Responsible AI assistance, disclosure, originality, human creative control and avoidance of copied/copyrighted material.
Module 5 – Submission & Export: High-resolution output, transparent background, vector-ready formats, concept note and originality declaration.
9. Expected Logo Characteristics
- Original, distinctive and innovative; not copied from an existing logo or brand.
- Simple enough to be recognizable at small size yet meaningful at larger scale.
- Suitable for websites, apps, social media, certificates, stationery, banners, print and digital media.
- Effective in full colour as well as monochrome/black-and-white reproduction.
- Adaptable to vector use and scalable without loss of identity.
- Rooted in Uttarakhand’s educational/cultural identity without becoming visually overcrowded.
- Future-oriented and globally understandable while retaining a strong local character.
- Appropriate for a public education system and respectful of constitutional, social and cultural values.
10. Suggested Design Elements
Participants are free to interpret the theme creatively. Possible visual references include the Himalayas, books/learning symbols, students and teachers, digital networks, AI/technology motifs, science and innovation, traditional art inspiration, sustainability, creativity, Uttarakhand cultural identity and meaningful typography. These are suggestions, not compulsory elements.
11. Design Tools
Canva Education will be the official design-platform partner. Participants may also use appropriate free/open-source or legally licensed tools where permitted by the final competition notification. The source concept also identifies Inkscape, GIMP, Blender, Krita, Figma, Penpot and Photopea as possible tools. Regardless of tool, originality and copyright compliance are mandatory.
12. Submission Package and Technical Requirements
- High-resolution PNG/JPEG of the final logo.
- Transparent-background version, preferably PNG.
- Vector file such as SVG/AI/EPS where available/preferred.
- Optional 3D render or animated concept where relevant.
- A concise concept note of approximately 100–300 words explaining symbolism, colour, typography and educational relevance.
- Originality declaration and disclosure of any AI-assisted tools used.
- Recommended minimum output quality: 300 DPI for raster submissions intended for print.
- File-size and upload specifications will follow the final submission instructions/portal limits.
13. Originality, Copyright and Ethical Use of AI
Every participant must submit an original work. Plagiarism, tracing/copying of existing logos, unauthorized use of copyrighted assets, or misleading claims of authorship may lead to disqualification. AI-assisted tools may be used only in accordance with the final rules and must be disclosed. AI should support ideation and refinement rather than substitute for the participant’s own creative authorship. Entries must not violate cultural, social, constitutional or child-safety norms.
14. Jury and Evaluation Framework
Entries may be screened in multiple rounds and evaluated by an expert jury drawn from art and design, visual communication, branding, animation, educational media, digital creativity and innovation ecosystems. The source framework proposes experts with at least five years of relevant experience.

The exact transfer/licensing terms, moral rights, consent and any declaration required from a student/parent/teacher should be stated clearly in the final rules before submission.
18. Data Privacy, Child Safety and Verification
Because school students, including minors, will participate, the implementation should follow a safe and verifiable process. The Canva partnership document recommends institution-governed accounts and school-issued credentials for Canva Education access, teacher oversight and auditable participation. The separate Google Form specified in this concept note is intended for competition registration; platform onboarding and design access should follow the final SCERT–Canva operational protocol. Parent/guardian consent may be obtained where required by the final notification.
